Ashgrove Farms and Performance Horses are a group of properties owned by NH & AM Land and Cattle Co and Ashgrove Angus, owned by Amanda McHugh and Noel Hinson in Joint Partnership.
We are situated on the lush and beautiful King island in the middle of Bass straight, in the far north of Tasmania. We specialize in producing beef cattle for the Domestic and International MSA market.
Our stock graze the lush Rye Grass and Clover Pastures year round, we run an extensive grass management program using soil analysis tests to determine what we need to keep our pastures at their optimum production levels year round. We lime sand our pastures bi-annually, fertilize in Autumn and Spring, and rotate our paddocks every 5-14 days which are then spelled for a minimum of 4 weeks before being grazed again.
We sell our Grass finished quality Angus and Angus x bred cattle under the World Renowned King Island Beef Brand, and the Cape Grim Beef Brands. We also take great pride in breeding performance horses to campdraft, challenge, and be great horses for the whole family in all performance disciplines.
Quiet good natured correctly conformed horses bred with purpose to have form to function, natural balance and cow sense. We breed around 10 foals a year, stand two to three resident stallions at stud, and show our horses in most states of Australia.
Our bloodlines are predominately working bred horses for cutting, reining, and campdrafting, with a good dose off “old” blood, crossed back to our “modern” blood lined ASH duel Reg QH stallion Royalle Imprint and our fully Imported Bred AQHA Stallion Dualin Pepto (By Dual Jazz out of Peptobluesmal).
We also have a junior colt, fully cutting bred, Sonitas War Leo, who is currently a weanling and will be campaigned when he is older in challenges and campdrafting.
We currently have several horses with outside trainers competing in the 2014 challenge and campdraft season, and we hope you enjoy following their stories as well though our news feed page. Horses for sale will be listed regularly, from young stock to broodmares and the occasional started horse.
Owners of any Ashgrove or Ashover (our stockhorse prefix) bred horse are welcome to email me news and photos to display on our news page. We love seeing our horses out and about with their owners, and getting news and photos of them with their new families.
thanks for taking the time to stop bye, we look forward to helping you in any way we can.
