Cougar was started under saddle by us, and has been campgained as a three year old by Ron wall, and as a four year old by Nathan Wilson. From Limited starts she has achieved the following results so far, Cougar is being pointed at the Under Five Stockmans Challenge Series this year. From just 5 starts to date shes achieved the following:

  • 2nd Novice Draft at Cooyar 2015 out of 306 entries
  • Finalled Maiden at Hannaford The Gums Draft
  • 15th Cloncurry Stockmans Challenge 2014

Cougar hasĀ  joined our stud in 2011 from Sambeclyn Quarter Horse Stud in Southern Tasmania, she is sired by the stallion GSQ MISTER OBVIOUSwho is sired by the very well known and well performed imported USA stallion “Mytee Obvious Te”. Mytee Obvious Te was an Australian National Champion at halter, having defeated a very large group of 18 entires to win this title at the 1999 AQHA National Championships.

GSQ Mister Obvious (Cougar’s Sire) is out of THE DEBUTANTE, who was sired by the imported QH stallion PROFIT, Profit was a direct son of IMPRESSIVE, who is one of the leading sires of Halter horses in the world. The Debutante was a daughter of Roxy Morn, who in turn was an own Daughter of the great MORN DECK.

Cougar’s Dam CHISHOLM N LACE is a intensly sprint bred mare, being by LORNDALE VANDY’S FLASH Q-3385, who held a ROM in halter, and was in turn by an own Son of GOLD MONEY BARS (IMP) Q-276, who had many points in both halter and cutting, INSEL BASS BARS Q-1272. Insel Bass Bars was also a grandson of DELL MINGO (IMP) Q-118 who holds over 65 points in Cutting, campdrafting, performance and halter as well as awards in ROM performance, Hall of Fame Inductee in Performance, Achievement awards in Halter and cutting, and a ROM in Halter. CHISHOLM N LACE Q-57125 dam THE KIDS BID Q-23750 is through her sire a grandaughter of THUNDERING JET (IMP) Q-529 an own son of Jet Deck and instrumental for siring many race winning Quarter Horses in Australia, he has registered over 300 foals. The Kids Bid’s Dam GO NOVA GO R2-4679 was by GIANT PASS (IMP) Q-870 who was in turn by GO MAN GO and Go Man Go was one of the leading sprint horses in the USA and achieved the following results in his career, he was a Chestnut Rabicano not red roan as registered.

Cougar is a rising four year old filly that has been competed very lightly, she was started by us and then sent to Ron Wall for 14 months training in preparation for the 2014 challenge series, she had her first competition outing at Horse of the North scoring well mid field, her second outing was at Cloncurry in the under five Stockmans challenge where she competed to finish in 15th position going into the final, and missing the final round by just two points. Her wet work round scored a 87 in her second only campdraft run.

This filly is as calm as they come, her temperament is second to none, she is quiet, nothing phases her, shes great to float, clip, truck, rug, shoe and do anything with, a pleasure to handle at all times, not a hot filly, very cool minded, sensitive and athletic.
